You attend a state wide writing conference, all your fellow wannabes are there. There is an open mic and you read the one piece you have submitted and its gone nowhere. A tongue in cheek play you have written for a contest that it did not win. It is a satirical look look at the retirement community you have purchase a home in. Some people enjoyed it, some laughed, a couple of board members thought it so humorous they are going to produce it to open their spring conference.
This introduces two questions:
Do you travel to see perhaps a once in a lifetime showing of your work and risk viewing a disaster because after all it was a contest loser.
And what if the judges were right and you are sitting there when nobody laughs?
